Purpose: The HRC Advisory Committee seeks the views of and inputs from stakeholders to inform its study on the implications of plastic pollution for the full enjoyment of human rights, to be presented to the Human Rights Council at its 66th session
Background

In accordance with Human Rights Council decision 56/117, the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee is preparing a study on the implications of plastic pollution for the full enjoyment of human rights, based on a comprehensive approach that addresses the full life cycle of plastic. The study is to be presented to the Council at its sixty-sixth session.

Objectives

The HRC Advisory Committee seeks the views of and inputs from different stakeholders and rights-holders, including States, United Nations agencies, funds and programmes within their respective mandates, international and regional organizations, OHCHR, the special procedures of the Council, the treaty bodies, national human rights institutions, Indigenous Peoples, civil society, environmental human rights defenders, the private sector, academia and scientific institutions. The Committee encourages the submission of specific data, statistics, best practices, and significant challenges to enrich the study and provide a comprehensive analysis.

To facilitate the submission of inputs, the Committee is circulating a questionnaire on the topic (see below).
